Almaty - Chimbulak Ski Resort
Chimbulak Ski Resort is located in the picturesque Zailiyskiy Alatau Gorge at an altitude of 2,260 m above sea level, 25 km from the centre of Almaty. The average air temperature is +20°C in summer and -7°C in winter. The average snow cover is up to 150 cm and the number of sunny days per year is up to 90%. The average snow depth is between November and May. The ski slopes are served by two double chairlifts, a single chairlift and a drag lift, as well as a free drag lift. A 4-seater cable car has been in operation since 2003, opening up a new area for lovers of extreme sports. The lifts take you from 2260 m above sea level to the Talgar Pass (3163 m), with a vertical drop of 903 m. The slopes are prepared with three snow compacting machines (Ratrak).
The lifts start at an altitude of 3163 m above sea level. To your right and left rise the majestic mountains with their snow-covered slopes and evergreen Tian Shan firs. The variety of slopes, including gentle and easy slopes for beginners, long slopes for advanced skiers, FIS slopes, wild valleys with untouched snow and halfpipe for snowboarders, extreme turns for advanced skiers, a special slope for moguls, are Chimbulak’s calling card. New trails are created on Chimbulak every year. The slopes of Chimbulak are certified by the International Ski Federation (FIS). The downhill slopes and the slalom slopes are rightly ranked among the top ten most challenging slopes in the world.

Sports facilities:
Alpine skiing, snowboarding, snowblading. Throughout the season, Chimbulak hosts competitions in alpine skiing for professionals and amateurs, and snowboarding for amateurs.
Operating hours:
The Chimbulak ski resort of Almaty is open 24 hours a day.
The chairlifts operate daily from 10am to 5pm.
In summer, from May to October, Tuesday is a preventive day.
